Warriors Wrap Up Weekend at Space Coast

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International softball team traveled to Space Coast for another weekend of non-conference action. The Warriors move to 10-12 on the season as they head into Sun Conference play next weekend.
GAME ONE: LATE RALLY ALLOWS DEFENDERS TO SLIDE PAST WARRIORS
Chloe Rayner got the start for the Warriors as she went 6.1 innings. The sophomore struck out five batters. Jenna Chaudoin came in for relief in the bottom of the sixth and closed the game for the Warriors as she only allowed one hit.
Thalia Romero's hot streak stayed alive as she went 3-for-4 with an RBI triple and a run. Rachel Lamoureaux, Alexi Watkins, and Johnkiria Bland also brought in runs for the Warriors.
Watkins got things started for the Warriors as she got a five-pitch walk. Romero with a well-hit ball to the warning track for a stand-up triple to bring Watkins across. A sac fly for Lamoureaux gave the Warriors an early 2-0 lead.
Rayner responded with a quick one-two-three inning to put the Warriors back on offense. A fielder's choice and an error allowed two aboard before Dordt got the third out. Nicole Gutierrez doubled to right centerfield to bring another run for the Warriors.
The Defenders added a run of their own in the top of the fourth inning. A sac bunt for Watkins brought Weinmann across to extend the Warriors' lead back to three. Dordt rallied in the top of the 7th to bring four runs across, as they held on to take the game 5-4.
GAME TWO: ST. FRANCIS SCORE LATE TO TAKE THE 6-2 WIN
Taylor Thomas started in the circle for the Warriors in game two. The Sophomore pitched 6.2 innings and struck out seven batters. Megan Hoskins came in for relief in the 6th inning and got the final out for the Warriors.Thalia Romero and Logan Fennell notched the two RBIs for Webber as a host of Warriors made it on base.
After two blank innings, the Wildcats scored one to take an early lead. Gracie Lopez got things started for the Warriors with a two-out triple down the right field line. Kimmie Cheung singled with a bunt to put two on before Romero singled to right field to even the score 1-1.
A sac fly for Fennell in the bottom of the 4th gave Webber a 2-1 lead. St. Francis tied the game with a single up the middle in the top of the fifth. Two scoreless innings were broken up with four runs for the Wildcats in the top of the 7th inning to take the game 6-2.
GAME THREE: WARRIORS FALL TO (RV) INDIANA TECH
Jenna Chaudoin notched her fifth win of the season as she pitched four innings and struck out four batters. Chloe Rayner came in for relief in the bottom of the fifth and got one out before Indiana Tech got the 8-0 win. Gracie Lopez led the Warriors offensively as she notched the lone hit for Webber.
GAME FOUR: LATE RALLY NOT ENOUGH FOR WARRIORS TO DEFEAT AQUINAS
Taylor Thomas pitched another complete game and added seven more strikeouts on the season. Hailey Bellamy got her first collegiate at bat today, which proved to be successful as she hit an RBI double and reached first by an error that allowed two more to score to keep the game alive.
Samantha Hudson and Brandy Barquin both went 2-for-3, while Nicole Gutierrez added a hit for the Warriors.
The Saints struck first with three runs in the top of the second inning. After three scoreless innings, Bellamy doubled to centerfield to cut the deficit to two. The Saints added a run in the top of the 7th inning.
The Warriors responded with three straight singles before Bellamy scored two more. A fielder's choice and ground out gave the Saints the 4-3 victory.
The Warriors will be back in action this weekend as they head to West Palm Beach, FL to take on the Keiser Seahawks. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 4 PM.
