Babson Park, FL – The No. 12 Warriors moved to 18-3 after securing the 11-1 run-rule win over Lawrence Tech this afternoon at Brad Niethammer Field. Webber scored in four straight innings before four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to solidify the 10th straight win.
Manuel Meilan got the start and his first win of the season as he pitched five scoreless innings as he struck out two batters and only allowed three hits and two walks. Zach Wagoner came in for relief in the sixth inning and only allowed one run on two hits. Gage Allen closed out the game with a perfect inning as he struck out one batter to seal the 11-1 win.
Tyren Milliner, Bryan Morales, and Gabriel Cruz all went three-for-four and accounted for six of the 11 runs for the Warriors. Ryan Recio and Bryan Morales had back-to-back homeruns in the bottom of the 6th inning.
Meilan sat down his first three batters to put the Warriors on defense early. Joseph Becker got things rolling in the bottom of the first inning with a leadoff double. Ian Kalman followed suit with a single before Becker got out in a rundown. Brodey Neveker flew out to right field. Tyren Milliner hit a two-out standup triple to bring in run number one. Recio doubled to bring in Milliner to put the Warriors up 2-0.
Meilan got through another scoreless inning to get through the second inning quickly. Cruz singled through the center to get things going in the bottom of the second inning. Josh Blackmore doubled to bring in Cruz to extend the Warriors lead to three. Back-to-back walks for the Warriors loaded the bases with two outs. Milliner doubled down the right line to bring in two more runs, making it 5-0 to end the second inning.
Another scoreless inning for Meilan put the Warriors back on offense. Bryan Morales doubled through left center and got a balk to be in scoring position. Cruz singled over the head of the shortstop for an RBI.
LTU got on base with a leadoff double before their runner was picked off in a run down. Two groundouts to Richard Rodriguez ended the inning with no runs allowed. Neveker led off the fourth inning with a single down the left field. LTU got back-to-back outs before Morales doubled to bring in Neveker for another Webber run.
After a scoreless inning, the Blue Devils brought one across in the top of the sixth inning. Recio responded with a 3 RBI homerun before Morales had a solo shot to put the Warriors up 11-1 to notch the run-rule.
Webber will be back in action on Thursday, March 7th as they are set to host Bellevue at 1 PM.
