Webber Falls to Royals in Crooked Lake Clash

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International softball team battled through the final two games of the Crooked Lake Clash. Late rallies by the Royals allowed them to pull a 7-0 win in game two. In game three, Warner scored four in the bottom of the first, while seven blank innings plagued the Warriors.

The Royals struck first with an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning, to take a 1-0 lead. The Warriors then responded with a walk and a single but were unable to convert.

Taylor Thomas went 3-up-3-down in the bottom of the second inning to put the Warriors back on offense.

Thalia Romero took a four-pitch walk, and made her way around the bases to third, before the Royals got the third out.

Thomas kept the Royals at bay, adding a backwards K for out number three. Back-to-back quick innings kept it a one-run ball game. Alexi Watkins led off the top of the fifth inning by being struck by a pitch. Gracie Lopez followed with a single to the shortstop, putting two on. A double steal put runners in scoring position, but the Royals got the third out just in time.

The Royals added three runs in the bottom of the fifth and three in the bottom of the sixth to take game two.

In game three, Warner scored first with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Webber could not capitalize on their five hits, as the Royals took the series 3-0.

The Warriors will take on Florida National University for a mid-week matinee on Wednesday, April 3rd starting at 1 PM.
