Tyren Milliner Notches 7th Homerun as Warriors Take First Two From Falcons

Babson Park, FL – The 5th-ranked Webber International baseball team took the first two games in the series with the Fisher Falcons. The Warriors outscored the Falcons 18-1 to lead the series 2-0.

GAME ONE: WARRIORS CLIP FALCONS IN 8-1 WIN

Blayne Huter earned his sixth win of the season, as he pitched six shutout innings, adding nine strikeouts to his resume. The junior only allowed three runners on base through the first six innings of work. Ivan Martinez-Suarez came in for relief, pitching the 7th and 8th innings, allowing one run on four hits. Gage Allen closed the show with a shutout in the top of the 9th inning.

Tyren Milliner notched three hits and an RBI as he led the team offensively. Designated Hitter, Bryan Morales, was incredible as he added two hits and two runs for the Warriors. Joseph Becker accounted for three runs in game one, while Gabriel Cruz added two.

After a scoreless inning-and-a-half, the Warriors struck first as Morales singled to right center. Cruz followed with a well-hit ball to the right side, putting two runners on. Becker took a hit-by-pitch to load the bases with one out. Jonathan Vega capitalized on this by singling up the middle to bring in two runs. A double-steal put runners in scoring position, as Richard Rodriguez took a five-pitch walk to load the bases for the second time. Camren Carroll kept the scoring alive with an RBI walk before the Falcons were able to work out of the jam.

Huter added a backwards K for out number three in the top of the 3rd inning. Back-to-back singles put two runners on before a fielder's choice got the lead runner for out number one. Becker singled through the right side, scoring Morales. Vega followed with a double through the five-six hole to make it 6-0 for the Warriors.

Three straight outs for Huter put the Warriors back on offense, with a chance to secure add some insurance. An error allowed Recio on, bringing up the big bat of Tyren Milliner. The junior singled to left field, before advancing on the throw. Recio managed to score off an error on the third baseman, making it 7-0 for Webber.

WIU scored their eighth unanswered run in the bottom of the 5th inning off a steal from Becker.

The Falcons got their first and only run in the top of the 8th inning. Allen came in the top of the 9th inning to finish the game, as he picked up a KL and a putout to secure the 8-1 win for the Warriors.

GAME TWO: WARRIORS BLANKS FALCONS AND NOTCH 5TH RUN RULE OF THE SEASON

Brayden Matthews pitched seven shutout innings, adding six strikeouts, and only allowing one hit for his 5th win of the season. Manuel Meilan came in for relief, pitching a scoreless 8th inning to ensure the run-rule.

Gabriel Cruz and Brodey Neveker had an outstanding game as they both went 3-for-4, with a run and an RBI. Tyren Milliner added two hits and 3 RBIs, including the game ending run of Christian Campbell

A quick first inning added two strikeouts to Matthews' resume. After two scoreless innings, the Warriors got things started with a Brodey Neveker one-out single up the middle. Joseph Becker doubled down the right-field line, bringing in the speedy Neveker and giving the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

A strikeout and double play kept the Falcons from scoring, as the Warriors were back on offense. An error allowed Jonathan Vega on, before making his way into scoring position with a stolen base. Gabriel Cruz followed with a single up the middle, bringing in Vega and advancing to second on the throw. Milliner picked up his seventh home run of the season with a solo shot over the left field wall, making it 4-0.

A double and stolen base for Recio put one in scoring position, as Neveker singled to left field, extending the WIU lead to 5.

The Warriors capitalized on FC's errors in the bottom of the 6th inning, scoring two more. WIU added another run in the bottom of the 7th inning off the bat of pinch hitter Case McClelland.

A walk and a single put two on in the bottom of the 8th inning, as the million-dollar man, Tyren Milliner, stepped up. A double down the right field line scored Campbell and closed the game with a 10-0 run rule.

The Warriors will finish this series on Friday, March 29th – first pitch scheduled for 12 PM.
