Game Recap: Baseball |

Martinez-Suarez Notches First Win As He Secures The Sweep For The Warriors

Babson Park, FL – The 5th-ranked Webber International baseball team broke out the brooms as 22 runs cleared the Falcons to complete the series. With this, Webber earns their 28th win of the season.

GAME ONE: HOMERUNS FROM RECIO AND BECKER SEND WARRIORS PAST FALCONS

Dylan Martin picked up his third win of the season after pitching five innings. The senior kept the Falcons to just two runs as he retired 17 batters. Hunter Youngblood came in for relief in the top of the 6th inning, with Brighton Taylor and Seth Lovell getting an inning apiece. Lovell garnered his fifth save of the season as he kept the Warriors ahead three.

Ryan Recio led the team, once again, as he grabbed two hits, including a 2 RBI homer over the left field wall. Joseph Becker went 1-for-1 with a walk and a 2 RBI homerun in the bottom of the 8th inning.

The Warriors got on the board first as a leadoff walk and hit-by-pitch put two runners on. An error and sac fly off the bat of Drew Stubbs scored two, giving the Warriors the lead.

The Falcons tied the game with two runs in the top of the 4th inning.

A one-out hit-by-pitch for Camren Carroll set Recio up for his seventh homerun of the season, giving the Warriors back a two-run lead.

A lineout to Christian Campbell and a 3-6-3 double play kept the Falcons from adding runs in the top of the 6th inning. Joseph Becker took a dart to the back to lead off the bottom of the 6th inning. Campbell doubled to left center, scoring Becker and extending the lead to four.

The Falcons added a third run in the top of the 7th inning and two in the top of the 8th inning. Gabriel Cruz singled to center field as Becker stepped up. A strong hit ball over the right field wall is just what the Warriors needed to ensure the 8-5 win over the Falcon and claim the series.

GAME TWO: MCLELLAND AND MARTINEZ-SUAREZ LEAD WARRIORS PAST FALCONS

Ivan Martinez-Suarez notched his first win of the season, as he pitched through the 5th inning and kept the Warriors ahead. Jonathan Bautista got the start and allowed five runs. Gabriel Dorsey came in the top of the 5th inning, as four more runs came across. Thomas Nelson and Danny Rodriguez closed the show with an inning apiece.

Case McClelland had an incredible day for the Warriors, as he picked up his first start in the designated hitter spot. The sophomore went 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs. Gabriel Cruz saw himself back in the leadoff spot, adding three hits, two runs, and two RBIs. Joseph Becker and Ian Kalman added two hits each.

The Warriors struck first, as they brought in eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Falcons responded with two runs of their own in the top of the 2nd inning.

Cruz doubled to left center in the bottom of the 3rd inning to extend the Warriors' lead to seven. Bautista retired three straight batters to put Webber back on offense.

Kalman got things rolling in the 5th inning with a leadoff double through the right side. McClelland doubled to center field, scoring Kalman. A FC error allowed McClelland to score, making it 11-2 for WIU.

FC added five runs in the top of the 5th inning to make it a two-run ball game, before cutting Webber's lead to one in the top of the 8th inning. A McClelland double and Richard Rodriguez walk put the Warriors up four.

Danny Rodriguez closed out the game with a fly out and two swinging strikeouts to ensure the sweep.

The Warriors will be back to SUNC play next weekend as they host St. Thomas on Thursday, April 4th. First pitch is scheduled for 6 PM.
