West Palm Beach, FL – The Webber International softball team continued Sun Conference play with a doubleheader against the Keiser Seahawks. KU kept the Warriors to just one run in two games.
Rachel Lamoureaux, Johnkiria Bland, Brandy Barquin, and Samantha Proctor added hits to the board. Gracie Lopez, Nicole Gutierrez, and Jenna Chaudoin all added walks in the five-inning game.
After two scoreless innings, the Seahawks brought four runs through in the bottom of the 3rd inning. KU added five more runs in the bottom of the 4th to take the 9-0 win.
In game two, Taylor Thomas got the start as she pitched 6 innings and struck out four batters. Kylie Bright led the team in the second game as she went 2-for-3. Gracie Lopez notched a solo run for the Warriors off the bat of Thalia Romero. Barquin and Bland added hits to the board. Dominica Kohout got her first start of her collegiate career and went 1-for-2.
The Warriors struck first with a one-out double to score one. Thomas went to work quickly and sat down all three batters. A quick inning put the Seahawks back on offense as a two-run homerun gave KU a 2-1 lead. KU added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning and one more in the bottom of the 6th to secure the series.
Webber will be back in Babson Park this week as they are set to host Saint Ambrose for a doubleheader on Tuesday the 19th before hosting Coastal Georgia for some more SUNC play.
