Warriors Split Against NCAA DII Foes

Babson Park, FL – The No. 5 Webber Warriors split on the day as they face two NCAA DII opponents. The Warriors swept Barry with a quick 5-0 win, while they dropped to Stevenson 2-3.  

Abagail Baxter and Delanie Johnson got things started with a win at the four seed. The Warriors' duo won in straight sets as they took down the Buccaneers 23-21, 21-16. Janna Morrissey and Andrea Padilla were slated as the two-seed for the Warriors and proved to be successful with a 2-1 win. The pair took set one 21-15 before the Buccaneers evened the score with a set two win. The Warriors shut down their opponents as they took set three 15-10, giving the Warriors a 2-0 lead. 

Nadia Reid and Kiersten Tisdale secured the win for the Warriors with a straight set win at the one seed (21-19, 21-15). Kendall Steinert and Leyni Young dominated the threes with another sweep (21-13, 21-11) to put the Warriors ahead 4-0. Anna Morton and Vivianne Cancio ensured the sweep for Webber with a win at the five-seed. The pair took set one easily, 21-18, before holding their opponent to just seven points in set two.  

In the second match, the Mustangs got on the board first with wins at the two and four seed, grabbing and early 2-0 lead.  

Reid and Tisdale put the Warriors on the board with a win at the one seed. The duo notched another straight-set win as they took down the Mustang's top seed 21-19, 21-17. Johnson and Baxter evened the score by winning as the three seed. The pair took set one 21-19. Set two proved to be more of a challenge, but the two pulled away with a 25-23 win.  

Stevenson took the final match at the fives in three sets to complete the 3-2 win.  

Webber will be back in the sand next weekend as they head to Gulf Shores, AL to take on Loyola, William Carey, and Mobile.
