Warriors Defeat Mariners in Overtime Thriller

Brunswick, GA – The Warriors continued their trek through the Sun Conference as they traveled to Brunswick, GA to take on the Mariners of Coastal Georgia and come home with an overtime win, 86-85. With this, the Warriors move to 16-7 on the season, and 4-5 in SUNC play.

Eden Holt led the team, once again, offensively with 24 points and eight assists. The Houston, TX native played stout defense picking up three rebounds and three steals. Zachary O'Callaghan had an incredible game as he picked up 14 points, six rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal. Cooper Peterson's game continues to improve as the senior notched 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

The Mariners got things started with a quick layup before the Warriors answered with an O'Callaghan triple. Holt picked up two with a jumper to take the lead 5-4 before the Mariners scored back-to-back. A three pointer from Dante Sofia tied the game 8-8 just four minutes into the first half.

Over the next five minutes, the Warriors made four three pointers as they went on a 14-11 run to regain the lead 22-21. Consecutive buckets from Jamar Ingram and O'Callaghan gave the Warriors room to breathe they were up five with six minutes left in the half. Both teams traded points before a Marine jumper sent the Warriors to the half up four.

Webber opened the scoring in the second half with a dunk from Sofia off the pass from Peterson. A quick turnover and a layup from O'Callaghan extended the lead back to six. A jumper from Holt made it a swift ten-point lead before the Mariners went on an 18-7 run to make it a one score game.

Five points scored by O'Callaghan and Holt let the Warriors float ahead of Coastal with just over five minutes remaining. A Gavin Buchanon bucket had the Warriors up four before a free throw and buzzer beater sent the game into overtime.

Overtime began with a downtown jumper from Orri Hilmarsson. A 6-5 run led by Peterson, Holt, and Jordan Golden gave the Warriors a four-point lead with just 1:30 left in the contest. A free throw made by Buchanon sealed the win for the Warriors as they head back to Babson Park, FL victorious.

The Warriors will host Southeastern on Saturday, February 10th at 4:00 PM. Show up in your best black outfit, as the Warriors try to douse the Fire.
