Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Men's Basketball team hosted the Southeastern Fire in the Sabbagh Center Saturday afternoon. The Warriors battled tough but were unable to hold off the Fire, losing 77-74.
Eden Holt started the scoring for the Warriors, hitting two early free throws. Cooper Peterson hit his first three on the night off an assist from Jovon Rosse. Peterson hit two more threes for the Warriors before Holt hit a two. Orri Hilmarsson got on the board with a three off an assist from Gavin Buchanon, to give Webber a 16-9 lead. Jamar Ingram, Holt, and Buchanon scored the next six for the Warriors. Ingram and Buchanon traded the next eight points before Jordan Golden got himself on the board. Peterson hit another three, and Holt ended the half with two free throws to keep the Warriors in it 39-37.
Rosse tied the game to start the second half. After a brief Southeastern run, Peterson hit a two and a three with another two from Holt mixed in to retie the game at 46. Ingram hit another shot before Holt went on an eight-point swing, making two threes. Dante Sofia found pay dirt on two free throws, with Hilmarsson adding one as well. Holt scored another six straight, willing the Warriors back into it before finding Peterson for another three. Holt would find the bottom of the net once more before Sofia finished off the scoring with two straight baskets. The Warriors would fall by three to the Fire, 77-74.
Holt led all scorers with 26 points, to go along with two rebounds and three assists. Peterson scored 20 for the Warriors, going 6-10 from deep and 7-11 on the night. He also added six rebounds. Ingram had eight points off the bench to go along with three rebounds.
The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday, February 14th when they travel across the Crooked Lake to take on Rival Warner at 7:30 PM.
