Atlanta, GA – The Webber International Men's and Women's bowling team battled this weekend in the NAIA Southwest Open. The Warriors, fresh off a successful tournament run in the Mid-South Conference memorial tournaments, continued their hot streak, sweeping the entire field with both the men's and women's squad earning first place finishes in Atlanta.

The Warrior's women's team started off the weekend with strong performances from their senior bowlers, Jaqueline Witura, Linda Himes and Jenna Williams. Witura, earning yet another all-tournament team honor, led the Warriors to a fast start with a 215 game one and 220 game two. Witura would average 206 pins through three games and 620 pins total. Himes would follow closely behind her fellow teammate, finishing in seventh place individually with a game two high of 212 and 583 pins total. Williams would go neck and neck with Himes all tournament long, finishing right behind her in eighth place, helping the Warriors finish strong with a game three high of 221. Himes and Williams would tally 583 and 582 pins each, respectively, to push the Warriors team lead. Liberty McKinney would grab a strong 10th place finish for the Warriors, netting her best finish of the season, with a game one high of 203. It would take a total team effort and strong play from the entire squad, but the Warriors would secure their second first place team finish of the season, finishing with a significant lead over the second place Milligan University who finished with 6,272 pins, compared to the Warriors 6,358 pins overall.

The Warrior's men's squad would match their female teammates and grab another victory in this NAIA bowling bout against stiff competition. The Warriors would have three bowlers finish within the top 10 individually, with sophomore bowler, Brandon Bohn leading the Warriors charge. Bohn would finish second overall, with a game two high of 245 and a 240 pin average through three games. Bohn would knock over 721 total pins through the tournament and help push the Warriors early on into a top position in the standings. Bohn earning the all tournament team honor was a vital component to the Warriors success down the stretch of this tournament. Austin Grammar and Charles Bostic had excellent tournaments for the Warriors as well, earning seventh and 18th place individually. Grammar would bowl a game two high of 239 to help sustain the Warriors lead through the middle game and Bostic would add onto that Warriors lead with a game two high of his own of 246. Grammar would average 217 through three games played with 652 pins overall, and Bostic would follow just behind with a 205 average and 616 pins total. The Warriors faced stifling competition in Atlanta, but they proved to be up to the challenge and in dominating fashion clinched another first-place finish with 7,267 pins overall, with second place Milligan University trailing by nearly 400 total pins.

The Warriors will have one more tournament to finish their preparation before ITC Sectionals in March. They will travel farther north this weekend to compete at the USBC Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic on Febraury 10th – 11th in Indianapolis, IN.
