West Palm Beach, FL – The Webber International University men's basketball team opened up the post-season with a dominant force, defeating the Keiser Seahawks 93-79. Three Warriors totaled double digits as Webber prepares to head down to Miami Gardens to battle through the SUNC tournament.
Eden Holt led the Warriors with his fourth 30-point game. The Junior knocked 13 shots coupled with eight assists, three rebounds, and three steals. Cooper Peterson shot 73% as he netted 20 points and five rebounds. Orri Hilmarsson had 12 points and four rebounds. Jordan Golden led the defense with eight rebounds and added nine points to the board.
Keiser got things started with a defensive stop and a jumper to get on the board. Holt responded with a bucket to even the score. Both teams traded points before the Warriors went on a 12-7 run to take two-point lead.
Hilmarsson and Holt totaled 12 of the Warriors' next 17, as Webber held KU to just eight points. Jovon Rosse sunk three free throws to extend Webber's led to nine with 2:45 left in the half. A triple from Golden and double for Holt sent the Warriors to the break up 39-30.
Cooper Peterson opened the second half with a layup. Webber then went on a 12-9 run over the next three minutes. Webber went 7-10 to extend the lead to 22 with eight minutes left in the game. Holt scored seven of the next 11 points for the Warriors to keep the double-digit lead. A layup from Rosse sealed the deal as WIU took the 93-79 win.
The Warriors will be back in action as they head on the road to take on the St. Thomas Bobcats on Friday March 1st.
