Four In Double Figures Not Enough on Senior Night

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's Basketball team hosted the St. Thomas Bobcats for Senior Day on Saturday afternoon in the Sabbagh Center. On a night where Webber honored six seniors, the Warriors were unable to overcome the Bobcats, falling 73-68. 

Jaida Burgess scored first for the Warriors with a layup. Triniti Lee made a free throw, Burgess made two and Samantha Pacheco hit two shots to tie the game at 9-9. Burgess made a three pointer before Jermaisa Klopsis made a basket for the Warriors' last points before the end of the first quarter. Webber headed to the second down 18-14. 

St. Thomas would start the second quarter on a hot streak, as a block from Klopsis led to a fast break layup six minutes into the quarter to give Webber its first points of the quarter. Burgess made a layup and the ensuing foul shot to put the Warriors at 21 points, before a layup from Jasmine Henry towards the end of the half put Webber down 17, 40-23. 

Kaliyah Little and Pacheco scored first in the third quarter. Pacheco made another basket before Burgess hit two straight buckets. Klopsis scored again before Alisha Walker got in on the action with two layups. Burgess went one of two from the line before Pacheco made two straight baskets. Another basket from Klopsis and two more free throws from Pacheco had the Warriors within six, 55-49.  

Burgess and Little scored quick, as two free throws from Burgess and a three from Little had Webber down three 57-54. Burgess and Klopsis scored the next nine points for the Warriors, bringing Webber within two, 65-63. A two from Jaiden Ross and a three from Little were the last scores for Webber as they fell 73-68. 

Burgess led the Warriors with 25 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Pacheco had 14 points, five rebounds and three assists. Little had 10 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Klopsis had 10 points and four rebounds off the bench.  

The Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday, February 27th when they travel for the SUN Conference Tournament.
