Warriors Blank Conquistadors in 7 Innings

Babson Park, FL– The Webber International baseball team continued their strong start to the season as they garnered their first run-rule win of the season. The Warriors shut out the Conquistadors through seven innings to take the 12-0 victory.

The Warriors had a bullpen day as Zach Wagoner got the start and pitched one inning as he allowed only one hit. Gage Allen, Danny Rodriguez, Brighton Taylor, Gabriel Dorsey, Ivan Martinez-Suarez, and Thomas Nelson all got an innings-worth of work. D. Rodriguez earned the win as he was the first to exit the game with the lead.

Offensively, Bryan Morales led the Warriors, as he went 3-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs on the day. Brodey Neveker had another stellar game as he went 3-5 with 2 RBIs. Leadoff hitter, Joseph Becker scored two runs for the Warriors in addition to two he batted in. Jarrett May earned himself a Wendy's 4-for-4, since he got walked at each of his four at-bats, including an intentional walk in the bottom of the 3rd.

Both teams started strong, pitching two scoreless innings before a leadoff walk for Gabby Cruz and a double from Neveker made it 1-0 for the Warriors.  Ian Kalman reached first on a fielder's choice as Neveker was thrown out at home. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases with one out on the board. Another fielder's choice allowed Morales aboard and sent May to the dugout as Kalman added another score on the board. Josh Blackmore got walked before the Conquistadores got the final out of the inning.

After another scoreless inning, the Warriors brought four across to make it 6-0 in the bottom of the 5th. FNU was unable to respond as Ivan Martinez-Suarez got three quick outs. The Warriors got things rolling in the 6th inning as Tyren Milliner and May both earned walks to set up another scoring single from Morales. Webber then scored five more runs to make it a swift 12-0. FNU needed to get to work to force the game to continue but were unable to as Thomas Nelson closed the game for the Warriors.

Webber will be back in action on Friday, February 20th as they are set to host SAGU. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 PM.
