Warriors Cruise Past Lions in Friday Doubleheader

Babson Park, FL – The 12th ranked Warriors bust out two wins over the SAGU Lions. Blayne Huter pitched shutout in game one as Webber took the 4-0 win. Brayden Matthews then led the Warriors in the game two 6-5 victory. 

GAME ONE: HUTER LEADS THE WARRIORS TO 4-0 WIN OVER THE LIONS 

Blayne Huter got the start and grabbed his second win of the season as he pitched nine entire innings and recorded eight strike outs. Gabriel Cruz, Camren Carroll, and Richard Rodriguez all recorded RBIs and hits as the Warriors breeze past the lions in game one.  

After three and a half no-score innings, Ian Kalman got things started as he took a hit to get on base to lead off the 4th inning. Tyren Milliner singles through the right side putting two runners on with no outs. Carroll loaded the bases with a single down the third base line before R. Rodriguez hit a sac fly to right field to bring in a run. A wild pitch brought Milliner home to make to 2-0 for the Warriors.   

The Warriors had three more scoreless innings before a Gaby Cruz single brought home R. Rodriguez to extend Webber's lead to three. SAGU was unable to respond as Huter shut them down.  
Brodey Neveker singled through the left side to start the 8th inning before a beautiful bunt from Kalman put two on for the Warriors. Sac flies from Milliner and Carroll brought another run across as the Warriors closed out game one 4-0.  

GAME TWO: WARRIORS BATTLE FOR 6-5 WIN OVER THE LIONS 

Brayden Matthews took the mound for the Warriors in game two. Matthews pitched seven innings and managed nine strikeouts. Bryan Morales led the team offensively as he went 1-2 with 2 RBIs to boost the Warriors past the Lions in the 6-5 victory. 

Webber got on the board first as a Lions' error brought in a run. Ian Kalman singled through the middle to bring in another run to make it 2-0 for the Warriors. SAGU was unable to respond as Matthews sat down all three batters. Gabriel Cruz took a hit to bring in the third run for the Warriors.  

SAGU grabbed four runs in the top of the third inning. The Warriors responded with two runs to take the lead back 5-4. After an inning of scoreless baseball, the Lions brought around one more run to make it tie the game. The Warriors wasted no time as a Morales walk brought in Joe Becker for the winning run. 

The Warriors will be back to action tomorrow, February 24th as they are set to host #20 Point Park. First pitch is set for Noon ET.
