Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's Basketball team hosted the Southeastern Fire in the Sabbagh Center. The Warriors battled tough but were unable to contain the Fire, losing 70-59.
Jaiden Ross got the Warriors on the board in the first quarter. Janaina Goncalves and Jermaisa Klopsis scored next to make it 14-6. Klopsis would find the bottom of the basket twice more, before Jasmine Henry and Kori Wimberly finished off the scoring in the first quarter, with the Warriors down by two, 16-14.
Samantha Pacheco hit a three at the start of the second quarter. She scored four more points before Nevaeh Hillmon hit a layup. Alisha Walker hit a jumper to take the lead for the Warriors. Ross and Triniti Lee hit back-to-back shots before Ross hit one more to head to the half tied at 31.
Goncalves hit a three-pointer to start the second half before Kaliyah Little hit a shot to take a three-point lead for the Warriors, 36-33. Klopsis and Walker scored next for the Warriors before Lee hit a long three. Klopsis hit two shots from the charity stripe to end the scoring in the third with the Warriors down, 54-44.
Goncalves scored the first five points in the fourth quarter, on a layup and a three. Klopsis hit the next two baskets for the Warriors. Pacheco and Lee both scored two more in the fourth. Zeri Tyler scored the final basket for the Warriors as they fell 70-59.
Klopsis and Goncalves led the Warriors with 11 points apiece. They both grabbed six boards while Klopsis had five assists to Goncalves' two. Pacheco had nine points, three rebounds, and four assists.
The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday, February 14th when they travel across the lake to take on Warner University at 5:30 PM.
