Siloam Springs, AR – The Webber International Men's Basketball team traveled to Siloam Springs for the John Brown Men's Basketball Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Warriors went 0-2 on the weekend, dropping close games to host John Brown University, and the NAIA #14 Central Baptist.
The Warriors scored 56 points in the first half against the Eagles, leading by 16 at the half. Khalyl Simmons led the Warriors with 15 points in the first half, on 5-8 shooting, and 4-6 from the three-point line. Orlando Thomas had 12 points as well as two rebounds on 4-5 shooting. Jerry Carraway Jr., Zachary O'Callaghan, and Ethan Thomas all had six points in the first half.
Webber was outscored 55-35 in the second half against John Brown. Carraway Jr., added another 12 points while Thomas had 11 and three more rebounds. Jordan Golden had six points on 3-4 shooting.
For the game, Thomas led the Warriors with 23 points, five rebounds, and added an assist as well, while also going 9-10 from the charity stripe. Carraway Jr. had 18 points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Simmons finished the game with 17 points and two rebounds, while Golden was the final Warrior to finish with double digit points, scoring 11 while grabbing five boards, as the Warriors fell 95-91 on Friday night.
On Saturday, the Warriors matched up with the Mustangs for an early season ranked opponent for the Warriors. Webber was held to 23 points in the first half, but were able to keep it close by limiting #14 Central Baptist to 34. Carraway Jr. led the team with six points, while also securing two rebounds. Golden had five points to go along with four rebounds, while Thomas, Gabriel Sorensen, and Jaylin Bain each had four points. Sorensen also led the team with six rebounds.
Webber outscored Central Baptist in the second half, scoring 43 to the Mustangs 41, but it was not enough to secure a victory. Thomas led the team in the second half with 11 points and six rebounds. Carraway Jr. and Simmons each had nine second half points with two assists and three rebounds respectively. Golden had seven points and three more rebounds.
For the game, Thomas and Carraway Jr. led the team with 15 points apiece, with Thomas grabbing seven boards, and Carraway Jr. dishing out three assists. Golden had 12 points and seven rebounds, while Simmons had nine and seven. Sorensen led the team with eight rebounds.
The Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday, November 12th when they host the Beacon College Blazers for the home opener for the Warriors.
