West Palm Beach, FL – The Webber International Women's Volleyball traveled down to West Palm Beach, Florida to take on the Keiser Seahawks on Saturday afternoon. Trying to gain ground in an important SUN Conference clash, the Warriors fell short, falling to the Seahawks in three sets 3-0.
The Warriors first points were scored off of an attack error and a service ace from Nadia Reid, making it 2-1. Kaylee Hunt picked up a kill before Delanie Johnson and Rylee Bolser combined for a block. Hunt, Reid, and Bolser each picked up kills to make it 8-4 in favor of the Warriors. Reid, Cintia Lorena, and Johnson kept pace for the Warriors, keeping them ahead at 12-10. The Warriors continued to benefit from errors by the Seahawks, and a kill from Savanna Wilhite put Webber seven points away from taking the set at 18-15. Reid, Hunt, and Johnson again had a kill each to put Webber at 21-17. The Seahawks did not go down however, outscoring the Warriors 8-1 to take set one 25-22.
Reid and Bolser helped get the action started in the second set, each picking up a kill. Hunt had another kill before a block from Bolser and Reid tied the set a 6-6. The Warriors were able to keep it close with the Seahawks in the second set, with kills from Bolser and Wilhite making it 9-8 with Keiser up by one. Keiser, however, scored 12 of the next 14 points to extend their lead to 21-10. Bolser, Hunt, Reid and Johnson tried to bridge the gap, but they were unable to complete the set comeback, losing set two 25-18.
After going down 4-0 to start the third, Webber responded with four straight points, with a kill from Daphne Wibranowski, a block from Wibranowski and Wilhite, and a service ace from Reid. Wilhite and Johnson had the next two kills before a service ace from Cam Bendel brought the Warriors within three points, 11-8. Keiser began to pull away again, but Luci Marinella and Reid both picked up kills before a combo block from Wilhite and Lorena put the score at 17-13 in favor of Keiser. Webber was able to bring it within two at 19-17 thanks in part to back-to-back blocks from Bolser and Johnson, then Bolser and Hunt. Both teams split the next 11 points 6-5, but the Seahawks came out victorious, winning set three 25-22.
Reid notched another double-double for her career with 10 kills and 13 digs. Bolser led the team with five blocks. Marinella had 18 assists while Alanys Rodriguez added 14. Abigail Baxter led the team with 16 digs, while Reid and Hunt each added 13.
The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday, October 23rd when they host the Florida National Conquistadores on the Jessica Costanzo Court at the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
