Ave Maria, FL – A strong second half showing was not enough as the Warriors fall to RV Ave Maria 111-86. Four Warriors hit double digits as Webber moves to 13-6 on the season, and 2-4 in SUNC play.
Eden Holt led the team with 17 points, three rebounds, and one assist.
Tyrone Nesby IV netted 15 points, six rebounds, a steal, and an assist.
Cooper Peterson's game continues to improve as he notched 14 points, two rebounds, and two steals.
Jamar Ingram had his best game of the season with 13 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.
The Gyrenes got on the board first with back-to-back buckets before
Gavin Buchanon sunk a three to make it 4-3. A steal from
Dante Sofia set Nesby up for a bucket to give the Warriors the lead early in the first. Peterson sunk a three to set the Warriors up 10-9.
AMU went on a 12-6 run over the next four minutes. Nesby broke a two minute scoring drought with a fastbreak layup. A bucket from Ingram made it a three point game with eight minutes left in the half. The Gyrenes broke away in scoring before a layup from Ingram sent to Warriors to the break down 65-36.
Webber opened the second half with a layup from Sofia and a bucket from Holt. Over the next eight minutes, WIU went on a 21-23 run with scores fro Nesby, Sofia, Peterson, and Holt. Ingram sunk another bucket to boost the Warriors' score to 63. The Warriors went on a 23-11 run over the final eight minutes to cut the deficit to 25.
The Warriors will be back in action as they head on the road to take on Saturday, January 24th, St. Thomas to end the first round of SUNC play.
