Babson Park, FL – The Warriors opened home SUNC play with a double-digit win over the Coastal Georgia Mariners. With this, the Warriors move to 13-3 on the year and 1-1 in conference play.
"We had a lot of role players step up today and do the little things that we needed to get the Victory," said head coach Gabriel Rutledge. "Each game in this conference is going to be tough, but we are going to take it one game at a time. Go Warriors!"
Eden Holt led the team with 23 points and five rebounds. Tyrone Nesby IV had his eight straight 20-point game and grabbed six rebounds. Jordan Golden had another incredible defensive game with eight rebounds, two blocks, and a steal in addition to eight points. Zachary O'Callaghan also had an impressive game with nine points, six rebounds, an assist and a block.
The Mariners got on the board first with two quick threes before Holt hit a shot from downtown to make it 6-3. The Warriors went on a 13-10 run to take the lead with 10 minutes left in the first half.
A layup from Jamar Ingram extended the Webber lead to four. The teams traded baskets before a bucket from O'Callaghan turned the tide in favor of Webber. Five straight points for Nesby couples with a three from Cooper Peterson and a layup from Gavin Buchannon gave the Warriors a 10-point lead. Another triple from Peterson sent the Warriors to the break ahead double digits.
The Mariners opened the second half with a quick layup, before jumpers from Nesby and Holt sank buckets to keep the Warriors ahead. A triple and steal-to-dunk by Nesby extended the lead to 13.
Points by O'Callaghan, Nesby, and Ingram kept the Warriors ahead with five minutes left in the game. The Warriors sealed the win with two free throws by Holt.
