Box Score Lakeland, FL – The Warriors traveled to take on the Fire of Southeastern in another SUNC matchup. A strong first half was not enough as the Warriors fall to the Fire 74-70.
Tyrone Nesby IV led the team with 20 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, one assist, and one steal. Eden Holt netted 19 points, five assists, three rebounds, and a steal. Gavin Buchanon was the final Warrior with double-digits points as he scored 11 to go with his two rebounds, and an assist.
The Mariners got on the board first with a quick three and a layup, before Holt sunk a triple to get the Warriors on the board. Webber went on an 8-0 run to grab the lead five minutes in. Buckets by Jordan Golden and Nesby scored the next six points for the Warriors. A layup from Jamar Ingram broke a three-minute scoring drought with a layup.
The Warriors went on an 8-3 run over the next five minutes to extend the lead to three. A dunk from Dante Sofia sent Webber to the half up 29-24.
The Fire opened with three quick triples before Buchanon sunk a three to open the Warriors' scoring. Holt and Buchanon led Webber on a 16-7 run to grab a five-point lead with eight minutes left in the game.
A triple from Holt and a fast-break layup from Nesby and Jamar Ingram kept the Warriors up. SEU went on a 16-11 run to take the game 74-70.
The Warriors will be back home on Wednesday, January 17th as they are set to host the Warner Royals in the Battle of Crooked Lake.
