Box Score Babson Park, FL. - The Webber International Women's soccer team battled their crooked lake rival on Wednesday afternoon as they set off against their cross town rival the Warner Royals for the first of two meetings in the 2023 season. The Warriors would get out in front and stay out in front after four first half goals the Warriors cruised past the Royals 5-1, to earn their first Sun Conference win of the year.

The first half of play was all Warriors as they would score four goals within 20 minutes to put the game to rest early in the first battle of the crooked lake. After some back and forth play through the first 18 minutes, The Warriors would get their first goal of the half with Faith Cullen-Cooper getting her first of two goals in the first half, off of a beautiful cross from Deb Guillen. Just six minutes later the Warriors would strike again after a foul on the Royals in the box, the Warriors would send Leah Mcdaid to the penalty spot and she would convert extending their lead to 2-0 in the 25th minute. The Warriors would not take their foot off the gas and Abbie LaRocca would get a goal of her own to push the lead for the Warriors to 3-0 in the 27th minute. The Warriors would continue their offensive onslaught scoring a fourth goal in the 37th minute when Ashley Dakis was able to find Cullen-Cooper for her second goal of the first half. Cameron Laine also had a great first half in goal for the Warriors, keeping her clean sheet and recording three saves as the Warriors offense led the way in the first half.

The second half was the exact same story as the first half with the Warriors dominating in all facets of the game for the entirety of 90 minutes. LaRocca would find herself in front of net again in the 59th minute and for the second time today she would convert to increase the Warrior lead to 5-0. Laine would continue her impressive first half showing in net for the Warriors saving a penalty kick from the Royals in the 67th minute and saving the following shot off of a rebound attempt from the Royals. The Royals would manage to get one into the back of the net in the 87th minute but that did not take away from great day in net from Laine as she finished with seven saves. The Warriors and Royals both attempted 14 shots with 8 being on target, but it was the Warriors who take advantage of their opportunities with two goals from Cullen-Cooper and LaRocca on the day to carry the Warriors to their first Sun Conference victory of the season.

The Warriors will be back in action this Saturday at 3:30 PM for another home game as they will welcome in #14 Southeastern University.
