West Palm Beach, FL - The Webber International University womens soccer team hit the road this weekend to face #6 Keiser University Seahawks. The Warriors fought hard, but came out of the match with a tough loss of 3-2. Their record now sits at 1-6-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Sun Conference.
The Seahawks got the lead over the Warriors relatively early when Ramona Kennedy found the back of the net off a corner kick. However, this did not stop the Warriors as Abbie LaRocca found the bottom left corner of the Seahawks' goal and tied the match just one minute after Keiser got the lead. Both the Warriors and Seahawks took one more shot one goal before
Maddie Manzke scored the goal that gave the Warriors the lead over Keiser 2-1. However, the lead did not last long as the Seahawks tied the match up 30 seconds before halftime.
Second half started off strong for the Seahawks as they took four shots in a row with the fourth one finding the back of the net. The Seahawks took back the lead just under five minutes into the second half. Deb Guillen and Manzke got off the last two shots for the Warriors before the match concluded with the Seahawks taking the victory.
Cameron Laine spent the entire 90 minutes in goal, making five saves along with some key defensive plays to prevent the Seahawks from scoring. LaRocca and Manzke scored their first goal of the season and Thea Rogue-Krag assisted Manzke's goal.
The Warriors stay on home turf next Wednesday, September 27th at 3:30pm for the fated Crooked Lake Rivalry against Warner University Royals.
