Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Warriors fall to Conquistadors 4-0

Hialeah, FL. – The Webber International Men's Soccer team traveled to Hialeah, Florida to take on the Florida National University Conquistadors Thursday afternoon. Despite their best efforts, the Warriors fell to the Conquistadors 4-0.

The Warriors started the first half strong, as Joden Gallardo took the first shot of the game during the second minute. After multiple Warrior fouls, Florida National got their first shot of the game in the seventh minute hitting the crossbar. In the 18th minute, Eduardo Rivera made a defensive save on a shot from the Conquistadors. Florida National took control from there, as the Conquistadors took four shots including one that Goalkeeper Ben Parkinson was able to save within a three-minute span. The Conquistadors kept control and after three more shots were able to connect with the back of the net, scoring in the 32nd minute and taking a 1-0 lead. Florida National kept its foot on the gas taking three shots before hitting the back of the net in the 38th minute extending the lead 2-0. Parkinson was able to grab two more saves heading into halftime with the Warriors down two.

The second half started off with both teams trading fouls before Gallardo was assessed a yellow card n the 51st minute. Parkinson was able to make another save off of a Conquistador header in the 53rd minute. Parkinson was brilliant over the next 10 minutes, making three more saves on Conquistador shots. In the 68th minute, Florida National was once again able to score and extend the lead up to 3-0. Ricky Quintero earned a second yellow for the Warriors in the 70th minute. Florida National was given a yellow three minutes later before having another shot blocked by the Warriors. Webber was finally able to generate shots as Ruben Marquez and Jamie McDonald both had shots on goal in the 75th and 76th minutes. Parkinson was able to pick up two more saves before Manuel Rodriguez scored the final goal of the game in the 87th minute to seal the win for the Conquistadors.

Parkinson led the defense, as he had 10 saves on the day and played all 90 minutes.

The Warriors will be back in action on Sunday, September 3rd when they travel to West Palm Beach, Florida to take on the Rocky Mountain Battlin' Bears at 1:30 PM
