BABSON PARK, Fla. (April 14, 2023) – The Webber International University baseball team kicked off its final home-series of the regular season on Friday with a matchup against Florida Memorial University. The Warriors fell short in a 5-2 defeat to the visiting Lions.

Blayne Huter earned his 10th start of the season, tossing 6.0 innings in which he allowed four runs on five hits and recorded three strikeouts.
Jacob Burr entered in relief to finish the final three frames, giving up just three hits and one run.
The Lions took an early lead after scoring a run on an error in the top of the first inning. Webber later took the lead in the fourth inning after a double to left field by
Luis Acevedo brought home
Tavion Williams. That was followed by Acevedo later scoring on a groundout to earn the Warriors a 2-1 lead.

In the sixth inning, Florida Memorial regained the lead after posting three runs on three hits. The Lions would add one more insurance run the following inning to make it a three-run game and hold Webber scoreless for the remainder of the game.

Acevedo led the Warriors offensively, going 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.

Richard Rodriguez all contributed with singles.

The series continues tomorrow, April 15th, for Senior Day with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
