No. 9 Baseball Earns Seventh-Straight Victory

BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 6, 2023) - The Webber International University baseball team played host to Bryant & Stratton College (Albany, N.Y.)in a single game on Monday evening. The Warriors earned a straight-forward victory against the Bobcats to extend their win-streak to seven games.

Blayne Huter improved his record to 3-1 on the year after tossing six innings in which he allowed just one run, which was unearned, on four hits and racked up nine strikeouts in the process. Eli Botelle made his fourth appearance of the season for Webber (20-3 overall) in relief with two innings of work before Dawson Young came in to retire the last three batters of the game all on strikeouts.

The Bobcats (10-6) scored an early run in the top of the first. However, the Warriors gained the lead in the bottom of the second with two runs that included a single through the right side by Ian Kalman which scored Angel Diaz, followed by an RBI-groundout from Hector Alvarez.

Webber would add two more the following inning thanks to a pair of RBI-singles by Bryan Morales and Kalman once again. Drake Dobyanski delivered an RBI-single through the right side in the sixth inning, extending the lead to 5-1. BSC added one more run in the eighth but Luis Acevedo scored Tavion Williams with a single the next half inning to restore the four run advantage.

Kalman led the team in both hits and RBI's as he ended the game with two apiece and was 2-for-3 in total. Morales, Acevedo, and Dobyanski all finished 1-for-4 with an RBI to their credit with Alvarez adding an RBI as well.
