BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 27, 2023) – The Webber International University women's flag football team played host to Keiser University and St. Thomas University last week. The Warriors suffered a heart-breaking defeat, 20-18, to the Seahawks on the final play of the game on Thursday before a dominating the Bobcats 37-14 on Saturday.

It was a heated battle between the Warriors (2-1 overall, 2-1 SUN) and Seahawks (2-1, 2-1) on the Warriors Grass Field. Keiser led 7-6 at halftime with both touchdowns coming in the first quarter.

Webber came out strong in the second half, finding the endzone twice in the third quarter but was unable to convert either of its point-after-attempts. It proved to be costly as the Seahawks responded with 13 points in the final quarter. Keiser took a timeout with just over a second on the clock to run the final play of the game in which they scored to earn the victory.

Sophomore quarterback
Samantha Wilson completed 24 of her 34 pass attempts for a total of 196 yards and a touchdown. Freshman
Kaitlyn Sigmundi recorded the first passing touchdown of her collegiate career on her only attempt of the game.

Breaza Robinson led the team both offensively and defensively as she recorded team-highs in receptions (6), receiving yards (51), and flag pulls (12). She was followed by
Kayla Burrows with six catches for 49 yards and a touchdown while Sigmundi posted three grabs for 47. Freshman
Jasmine Henry contributed defensively with seven flag pulls including a sack and a pass breakup.
Hayden Rupe tallied a flag pull as well as an interception in which she returned 63 yards the other way for a pick six.

The Warriors had just a one-day break before taking on the Bobcats (1-2, 1-2) on Saturday. They started the game aggressively on both ends of the field with two touchdowns in the first quarter and three in the second.

Webber held a comfortable 31-0 lead at halftime and scored once more in the third quarter to put the stamp on an outstanding team-performance.

Wilson finished 31-of-39 for a completion percentage of 79.5 and a total of 247 yards through the air. She tallied five passing touchdowns in the game, four of which were gathered by Burrows. Burrows had six catches for a team-high 70 yards with Robinson leading the team in receptions with nine for 48 yards and a touchdown.
Denise Garcia posted a season-high five catches for 35 yards as well. Freshman
Emma Balacco earned the first receiving touchdown of her career and had two catches for nine yards.

Burrows led the team in flag pulls with five followed by Robinson with four. Robinson, Sigmundi, and
Zoe Melo each recorded an interception as well.

The Warriors now have a week-long break to prepare for their next matchup against Crooked Lake rivals, Warner University, on Saturday, March 4th at 3 p.m. in Lake Wales, Florida.
