BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 26, 2023) - The Webber International University women's lacrosse team hosted St. Thomas University in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors took down the Bobcats, 19-8, to earn their second victory to kick off a five-game home stretch.

The Warriors (4-1 overall) heavily outshot the Bobcats (1-4 overall), 42-26, in total and took advantage of possession, winning 21 of the 31 total draw controls.

Madison Hamilton and
Makayla Senter both scored within the first two minutes of the match to hand Webber the early lead. The Bobcats struck back, however, before
Bryce Gerber netted her first goal of the match. The Bobcats scored two more times before the Warriors offense caught fire and recorded six more to end the first quarter. Of those six, two were claimed by
Sydney Britton and Gerber, and the last two by
Courtnie Couch and Senter.Â

Webber continued to extend its lead slowly but steadily over the course of the second quarter. The Warriors scored four goals in total for the period, including two from Couch. The Warriors looked to be in the driver's seat with a 13-5 lead at the break.

The third quarter was relatively quiet for both teams as Gerber added another on the board for the Warriors. The Warriors defense held the Bobcats to one goal in the fourth quarter as Gerber tallied two more before Hamilton added yet another.

Gerber continues to lead the Warriors' offense as she recorded seven goals and an assist for a total of eight points. She was followed by Britton with four, Senter and Couch each with three and Hamilton with two. Hamilton led the team in assists with three, followed by
Alia Loydd and Gerber with one each.Â

Hamilton finished with a team-high nine draw controls.
Maria Horrell followed close behind with seven while Gerber tallied five.
Ayame Macedo,
Jordyn Davidson, Loydd and Gerber led in ground balls with three each. Davidson spent all 60 minutes in the cage with twelve saves.

The home stretch continues on Wednesday, March 1st as the Warriors take on Cabrini University at 1 p.m. on the Warrior Turf Field.
