BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 21, 2023) - The Crooked Lake rivalry made its way to lacrosse as the Webber International University women's lacrosse team dominated the Warner University Royals in its 2023 home-opener, 24-3.
Webber (2-1 overall) put on an offensive showcase against the Royals (0-2), outnumbering them 42-7 in total shots and 30-4 in shots on goal.
The match began in the Warriors favor, scoring four goals in the first five minutes of the match. Madison Hamilton would net the first goal unassisted, followed by Bryce Gerber who scored twice, and Sydney Britton. The Royals struck back once before Makayla Senter, Britton, and Kaitlyn Patterson put three more on the board. The Royals finished off the first quarter with another goal, as the Warriors headed into the second quarter with a 7-2 advantage.
The second quarter started off with Patterson scoring two goals for herself. The Warriors put seven more on the board before halftime and would go into the third quarter with a 14-2 lead.
The third quarter kicked off with Britton scoring her third goal of the game to earn her hat-trick. Alia Loyd scored her first goal before the Royals would net their last goal of the game. Eight more goals would be scored before the end of the game.
Gerber and Britton dominated attack with eight and seven goals respectively, followed by Patterson with four and Hamilton with two. Loyd, Senter and Courtnie Couch all added one each as well. Gerber led the defense with a team-high four ground balls followed by Senter with three.
The Warriors will now face yet another first-year program in the form of St. Thomas University at home on Saturday, February 25th at 1 p.m.
