THOMASVILLE, Ga. (February 10, 2023) – The Webber International University women's basketball team traveled to Thomas University for its second matchup of the season against the Night Hawks. The Warriors completed the season sweep after a 58-52 win on the road.

The Warriors (9-14 overall, 6-7 SUN) shot 37 percent from the floor while limiting the Night Hawks (1-22, 0-14) to just 27.7 percent.

A slow start for the Warriors handed Thomas the early lead in the first quarter. Trailing 14-6 with just under three minutes left in the quarter, Webber was able to cut the lead to just four before a three-pointer from the Night Hawks made it a seven-point game heading into the second quarter.

Webber struggled offensively in quarter number two as Thomas took advantage, extending their lead to as many as 17 points with just over three minutes until halftime. The Warriors cut into the deficit but still trailed by 13 at the break.

Momentum shifted in the Warriors favor as they came out hot, outscoring the Night Hawks 17-2 in the third quarter to take the lead for the first time at 39-37. Thomas tied the game back up on two different occasions early in the fourth quarter but Webber was able to regain the lead and hold off the Night Hawks for the victory.

Leading the way for the Warriors was
Jaida Burgess with a team-high 16 points. She added five rebounds and tied for the team-high in steals with two. Burgess was followed by
Alisha Walker who tied her season-high of 14 points and came one-rebound shy of a double-double with nine.
Samantha Pacheco and
Rushell Jacob each finished with six points. Jacob also recorded four rebounds and two blocks.

The Warriors will now return home to take on the College of Coastal Georgia on Saturday, February 11th at 2 p.m.
