THOMASVILLE, Ga. (February 10, 2023) – The Webber International University men's basketball team matched up against Thomas University for the second time this season on Thursday night. The Warriors second-half struggles led to their third-straight loss as the Night Hawks took the win, 79-63.
It was a competitive game in which both teams shot a similar percentage but the Night Hawks (16-7 overall, 9-5 SUN) out-rebounded the Warriors (15-10, 8-5) 41-31 in total.
Webber got off to a slow start in the game as the Night Hawks started off the game on a 10-0 run over the opening two and a half minutes. The Warriors responded, however, with a 10-0 run of their own to level the game. Eventually, the Warriors would develop a six-point lead at 35-29. Thomas then went on a 6-0 run to close out the half and tie the game up at 35 at halftime.
The second half is where the game was lost for the Warriors as the Night Hawks took a 48-40 lead in the first four minutes of the new half. Webber was able to cut the deficit down to four points a few minutes later, but that is as close as they came as Thomas slowly increased its advantage over the course of the half.
