Lakeland, FL – A strong second half keeps the historic season alive for the Warriors, as they defeated the Mitchell College Mariners 99-92. With this, Webber moves to 11-2 on the season heading into Christmas break.
Nesby led Webber with his career-best points of 30 points, four rebounds, one assist, and a steal. K'Shun Stokes netted 19 points, two assists, and a steal. Eden Holt scored 17 points, while Cooper Peterson had 15 points.
Nesby got things started for the Warriors with a three-pointer to give the Warriors a 3-2 lead early. Both teams traded points before the Mariners went on a 9-2 run to be up 13-7 seven minutes in. A three-pointer by Jordan Golden made it a one-point game before a triple from Nesby put the Warriors ahead again.
Over the next seven minutes, the Mariners went on a 27-23 run to make it a five-point game. Peterson, Stokes, and Nesby combined for ten points to send the Warriors to the half down 51-46.
The Warriors opened the second half with six straight points by Nesby and Zachary O'Callaghan. The Mariners hit a jumper before the momentum turned in favor of the Warriors, as they went on a 14-8 run to take a four-point lead with 12 minutes left in the game.
Webber netted 14 points over the next six minutes to stay ahead 80-79. Back-to-back triples by Peterson and Holt turned the tide to the Warriors, as a jumper from Holt put Webber ahead by two. Eight points scored by Nesby and Stokes extended the lead with two minutes left before free throws by Holt and Nesby sealed the deal.
This is the last game before the Warriors get a short break before hosting Missouri Baptist on December 31st at 2:00 PM.
