Warriors Face off with Rams at SUN/SSAC Crossover

Montgomery, AL – The Webber International Women's Basketball team competed in the SUN/SSAC Crossover Friday afternoon, taking on the University of Mobile Rams. The Warriors played hard but fell to the Rams 94-66.

Jaiden Ross and Samantha Pacheco opened the scoring for Webber, each getting a layup to fall. Jermaisa Klopsis was sent to the line soon after and sank one of two free throws. Ross and Klopsis netted the next two baskets for the Warriors before Alisha Walker sunk one of two from the charity stripe. Klopsis got a jumper to fall before Nevaeh Hillmon scored on a fast break for the last points in the quarter for the Warriors. The first quarter ended with the Warriors down 26-14.

Klopsis made two free throws in the second quarter with Pacheco getting a layup to fall soon after. A layup from Klopsis, followed by layups from Kelsie Robinson and Ross kept the Warriors scoring in the second. Ross hit a jumper before two more free throws ended the scoring and the first half with the Warriors trailing 47-29.

Pacheco opened up the scoring in the second half, getting a layup into the basket. Klopsis got one of two free throws to fall, before getting off of an assist from Pacheco. Ross made another layup before Walker made two straight. Jasmine Henry also got in on the scoring, getting a layup on a fast break to end the third quarter with Webber behind 72-42.

Pacheco scored two on a jump shot, off an assist from Kori Wimberly, and soon after Ross assisted a Klopsis three-pointer. Klopsis scored the next three points on one free throw and a layup on the feed from Pacheco. Walker secured an and-one free throw, being fouled on a layup and sinking both. Klopsis, Ross, and Henry all got shots to fall for the Warriors before Pacheco was sent to the line and made two free throws. Hillmon got a layup off of a pass from Wimberly, Klopsis made it to the line to make one of two, and Walker finished the scoring for the Warriors with two made free throws. The fourth quarter ended with the Warriors down 94-66.

Klopsis led the Warriors offensively, dropping 23 points on 7-11 shooting. She also added four rebounds one block and one steal. Ross was the next leading scorer for the Warriors, getting 12 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists. Pacheco and Walker both had 10 points for Webber, with Pacheco netting eight assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Walker finished with three rebounds and one assist as well.

The Warriors will be back in action on Friday, November 10th when they take on St. Mary-Of-The-Woods in Rio Grande, Ohio.
