Kingsport, TN – Three Warriors drop double-digits as Webber defeats the Mighty Oaks in a dominant fashion on Sunday afternoon. WIU moves to 7-1 on the season as Jordan Golden grabs his third double-double of the season.
Tyrone Nesby IV led the Warriors with 19 points, four rebounds, and a block. Eden Holt netted 13 points and seven assists, while Jordan Golden garnered 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Cooper Peterson started the Warriors' night off with two three-pointers – giving the Warriors a 6-0 lead a minute into the contest. Webber then went on a 13-6 run as they lead the Oaks 19-7 with 14 minutes left in the first.
The Warriors went on a 9-0 run over the next five minutes of play to make the WIU lead 21. A pair of triples by Jovon Rosse and Golden kept the Warriors ahead by 24 with five minutes left in the first half. Titas Mikalopas and Jamar Ingram added to the score with a triple and a layup respectively. A free throw by Holt sent the Warriors to halftime up 43-21.
The Warriors opened the second half with another Golden layup. The Mighty Oaks kept fighting, as the Warriors went on a 6-5 run. A jumper by Nesby kept the lead at 20 with under 13 minutes left in the contest. The Warriors took over the next seven points to keep the Warriors up by 11. Buckets from Ingram, Dante Sofia, Mikolopas, and Peterson kept the Warriors ahead with eight minutes left in the half.
Webber netted 11 points to keep the lead in double-digits, as Oak City hit seven free throws. A defensive rebound by Ingram sealed the deal, as the Warriors led 74-56 as the clock expired.
With this, WIU will leave Kingsport 2-0 on the weekend, and 7-1 on the season. Webber will be back in action on Monday, December 4th as they head to Temple Terrace, FL to take on Florida College for the second time.
