Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Warriors Fall in Savannah

Savannah, GA. - The Webber International women's soccer team traveled up north on Wednesday evening to take on the #6 SCAD-Savannah Bees. The Warriors were unable to contain the explosive offense of the Bee's and were defeated 5-0 in their final regular season road game in 2023.

The Warriors immediately faced the explosiveness of the Bees offense in the first half of play as Cameron Laine, the Warriors keeper, was forced to make her first save of the game in the first minute stopping the shot of Ines Sommer. Leah McDaid tried to spark some offense for the Warriors in the fifth minute with an attempt at net, but the Bees keeper was up to the challenge and made the save. The Warriors would only manage to take three first half shots compared to the eleven for the Bees. Deborah Guillen missed wide in the 15th minute and Ella Campbell's shot was saved by the Bees keeper. The Warriors were able to contain the Bees offense until the 31st minute when Sommer would break the scoreless tie and give the Bees the early 1-0 lead. Just 15 seconds later, the Bees would capitalize again on a scoring chance and Sydney Chura would chip the Warriors keeper to extend the Bees lead 2-0. The halftime whistle blew, and the score remained 2-0 heading into halftime.

The second half of play continued to be a struggle for the Warriors as the Bees would take five shots at net in the first 15 minutes of the second half. The Bees were able to maintain possession of the ball almost entirely on the Warriors side of the field and reduce their offensive chances to a minimum. Sommer would score her second goal of the game for the Bees in the 65th minute to increase the Bees lead to 3-0. The Bees would go on to add two more goals in the second half and that is how this one would end, as the Warriors fell 5-0 in Savannah.

The Warriors will play their final home game this Saturday, October 28th in Babson Park against Ave Maria University at 3:30 PM on the Warrior Grass Field.
