Babson Park, FL - In the battle of SUNC teams, the Webber International men's soccer team utilized stifling defense to defeat SCAD-Savannah 3-0 Wednesday afternoon. With this win, the Warriors improve to 5-10-2 on the season and 4-8-1 in conference play.
 
Ben Parkinson anchored the Warriors defense by collecting eight saves to blank the Bees. Ruben Marquez, Nik Resnik, and David Gomez led the offense with a goal apiece. Alex Tarway and Sebastian Lago collected one assist each.
 
SCAD came out strong in the first half notching five shots and a corner kick within the first 20 minutes but couldn't convert. The first half began slow for the Warriors, as they did not grab their first shot until 35 minutes into the contest. That shot from Gomez, however, is just what Webber was waiting for as it gave the Warriors the 1-0 lead early into the contest. SCAD managed seven shots, four of which were on frame, and none of which broke through the plane. The Warriors defense held strong to keep it 1-0 going into the half.
 
The Bees made a quick break in the second half, notching five shots and four corner kicks within the first 10 minutes. The Warriors were not worried as a goal off the foot of Ruben Marquez would extend the lead to 2 early in the second half. The Bees managed two shots, one went wide while the other was saved by Parkinson. The game remained 2-0 until a goal from Nik Resnik cushioned the victory for the Warriors in the 72nd minute. The Bees were able to get off three more shots, none of which were successful.
 
The Warriors will close out hte regular season on Saturday, October 28th as they head to Ave Maria, FL to take on the Gyrenes. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM at Gyrene Field.
