Babson Park, FL – The Webber International University men's soccer team took on Southeastern University Fire and honored their seniors; Gianni Honsel, Jesus Sanchez, Sebastian Lago, and Michael Brietz. The Warriors came out of the match with a 4-1 loss, moving their record to 4-10-2 overall and 3-8-1 in the Sun Conference.
Ben Parkinson kicked off the match saving the first shot from Southeastern two minutes into the match. However, the Fire responded just over a minute later and scored the first goal of the match. Southeastern took three more shots before Ruben Marquez tied the game up, scoring off a penalty kick. Both teams battled back-and-forth until the 43rd minute when Southeastern took the lead back. The Warriors went into halftime down with a score of 2-1. Parkinson made a total of five saves while offense tallied a total of four shots for the first half.
Southeastern started off the match scoring a penalty kick 56 seconds in. The Fire kept their momentum and put another point on the board just under ten minutes later. The Warriors kept the Fire at bay for the rest of the match, as neither team scored and resulted in the 4-1 loss. The Warriors tallied two shots for the second half, while Parkinson was forced to save the ball once.
The Warriors will stay on home turf next Wednesday, October 25th at 3PM against SCAD-Savannah Bees.
