Miami Gardens, FL – The Webber International University men's soccer team traveled down to Miami Gardens for their second conference matchup against Florida Memorial University Lions. After a battle, the Warriors dropped to the Lions, moving their record to 4-9-2 overall and 3-7-1 in the Sun Conference.
The Lions got the lead early, scoring the first goal of the match in just over five minutes. FMU Kept applying pressure to the Warriors defense and scored another goal eight minutes later. With the Warriors down by two, Gabe Shelton put a point on the board for the Warriors, which was assisted by Matthew Loo. The Lions retaliated quickly after by putting the ball in the back of the net again. David Gomez got off the last shot for the Warriors in the first half, but it was saved by Florida Memorial's goalkeeper. The Warriors went into halftime down with a score of 3-1.
Another quick goal for the Lions to start off the second half and they increased their lead to 4-1. Both teams went back-and-forth for 28 minutes before Florida Memorial scored their fifth goal. However, the Warriors weren't finished as Ruben Marquez scored a penalty kick and the last goal of the match.
The Warriors took a total of three shots the entire match and Ben Parkinson spent the entire 90 minutes in the net, tallying one save in the first half and two in the second.
The Warriors return to home turf for Senior Day on Saturday, October 21st at 3PM where they will face off against RV Southeastern University Fire.
