Savannah, GA. - The Webber International men and women's bowling teams traveled up to compete in the SCAD Shootout this weekend. Both teams crushed the competition, with the women claiming their second win of the season. The men knocked 3,853 pins in day two to collect their second top two finish.
The Warriors women's team was led by Linda Himes and Jaqui Witura, both earning all-tournament team honors with Witura named the tournament MVP. Witura led the tournament with 862 total pins hit through four games. A 226 in game two shot the Senior up the leaderboard where she would remain for the rest of the tournament. Himes started strong, hitting 233 pins in the first game to claim her spot in the top three. The freshman finished clipped 814 total pins, averaging over 203 pins per game.
Aliyah Alleyne and Maria Gonzalez round out the top-ten for the Warriors, finishing in sixth and seventh place respectively. Both averaged 188.5 pins per game, ending the tournament with 754 pins each.
The Warrior women had a successful start to to the tournament, finishing day one in second place out of six teams with 2,784 pins hit. Himes and Witura helped lead the team in Savannah as the Warriors finished second place with a total pin fall of 6,708. SCAD-Savannah took first place just 93 pins ahead. SCAD-Atlanta wrapped up the top-three with 5,966 pins hit in total.
Brett Lloyd led the men's team, finishing first overall with 862 pins dropped in four games, and earned all-tournament honors. A 260 in game one put Lloyd greatly ahead as he coasted through the tournament hitting an average of 215.5 pins per game.
Charles Bostic rounds up the top-ten for the Warriors by dropping 818 pins to claim a sixth place finish. Webber had a successful start to the tournament, as they set in first place with a total of 3,257 on day one. The Warriors continued their great play into day two staying atop the leader board after totaling 7,385 pins over the weekend. The Warrior men would advance all the way to the finals matchup before falling to Emmanuel University giving them their first second place finish of the year.
The Warriors will have a three weeks weeks off before they will travel back up north to Marietta, GA to compete in the Bowlero Southern Classic on November 4
th – 5
th.
