BRUNSWICK, Ga. (January 5, 2022) - The Webber International University women's basketball team returned to Sun Conference-action on Thursday evening as it traveled to take on the College of Coastal Georgia. I dominant fourth quarter helped the Warriors to an 84-67 victory, earning them back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

The Warriors (4-11 overall, 1-4 SUN) did an outstanding job of taking care of the basketball as they had just three turnovers all game long. They also held the Mariners (1-13, 0-6) to just 38.3 percent from the field compared to the 50.8 percent of Webber.

Webber started the game out strong offensively as they shot 69.2 percent in the first quarter. After trailing early on 4-0, the Warriors bounced back and eventually took a six-point lead at 16-10 after a successful three-pointer by Alexandria Lemmon with just under three minutes left in the quarter. The Mariners hit a three of their own but the six-point lead was restored once again thanks to Samantha Pacheco who sank a shot from deep. It was the Warriors that held a narrow 21-18 lead heading into the second quarter.

Coastal Georgia tied up the game at 22 after just 45 seconds of the second quarter. Although, a 6-0 run by the Warriors saw them regain the advantage at 28-22. The Mariners tied the game yet again at 32 roughly halfway through the quarter before a converted and-one saw them take the lead 35-33. After being tied again at 37, another three-pointer by Pacheco followed by a layup from Coastal Georgia made it a one point game at the break.

The Warriors held the Mariners to just 29.4 percent shooting in the third quarter while Jaida Burgess scored 10 of Webber's 19 third-quarter points. Holding a two-point lead, the Warriors had an offensive explosion in the fourth quarter, led by Burgess once-again as they outscored Coastal Georgia 25-10 to close out the game.

Burgess led the team in scoring with 26 points, 24 of which came in the second half. She added a game-high four steals as well as four assists and four rebounds. Pacheco ended the game with career-highs in both points with 23 and made three-pointers in a single game with five. She was a perfect 5-of-5 from downtown and recorded four assists and five rebounds as well. In Lemmon's first game back from injury, she tallied 13 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
