Warriors Cruise Past Trailblazers in 7-0 Victory on the Road

BABSON PARK, Fla. (September 10, 2022) – The Webber International University women's soccer team traveled over 950 miles to Ohio Christian University to battle the Trailblazers in what would end in a 7-0 victory for the Warriors.

The Warriors (3-0 overall) heavily outshot the Trailblazers (0-4 overall) 20-6 in total and 16-2 in shots on goal.

It did not take long for the Warriors to get on the board as senior Brazil Clark would open the scoring just six minutes into the match on an assist from Hayden Rupe. Just three minutes later, Webber came inches from doubling the lead after a shot from Solimar Hernandez would ricochet off the post.

In the 14th minute, B. Clark would get her second goal of the match and second for the Warriors on a solo-effort that found the back of the net. Webber had many more efforts on goal throughout the first half but the Ohio Christian goalkeeper kept the contest at 2-0 heading into the halftime break.

The Warriors would continue their scoring six minutes into the second half on a goal from Deborah Guillen, her first of the season. Transfer-midfielder Leah McDaid then scored back-to-back goals for her first as a Warrior in the 62nd and 81st minutes of the match. Webber kept its foot on the gas as Lucía De La Llera would score her second of the season in the 87th minute followed by a goal from Versailles Clark in the 89th minute to stamp a resounding 7-0 win.

B. Clark and McDaid would lead the team offensively with two goals each while Guillen, De La Llera, and V. Clark all scored once. Cameron Laine and Atlanta Kishbaugh split the match in between the sticks with Laine picking up two saves in the first half.

It will be a short break for the Warriors as they now head to Kentucky to take on the University of Pikeville for their second match in two days on Sunday, September 11th, at 11 a.m. The team then has a week-long break before their home-opener against Life University on Monday, September 19th, at 4 p.m.
