BABSON PARK, Fla. (August 27, 2022) - The Webber International University men's soccer kicked off the season with a bang as they defeated the Trinity College Tigers 17-0.

The Warriors (1-0) put 24 out of 41 shots on frame and had 12 different players tally points. In contrast, the Tigers (0-1) had just one shot on goal and barely spent any time in the Warrior half.

It took just seven minutes for the Warriors to get on the board when senior
Isaac Thomas fired a shot past the goalkeeper after a rebound off the Trinity keeper. From that point on, the game was never in doubt as the Warriors controlled all aspects of play on their way to a record-breaking scoring output.Â

The Warriors were led in scoring by junior
Jesus Sanchez who found the back of the net four times and assisted on another. Senior-transfer
Joseph O'Sullivan netted three goals of his own to go with one assist. Junior
Sebastian Lago, sophomore Dozie Ozo Udeze, and sophomore
Luke Piveral each scored twice and senior
Isaac Thomas, senior
Eric Longhorn, sophomore
Marc Bonafe and junior
Chase Muniz each added one of their own.

Shalev Goss recorded two assists in his collegiate debut. Sophmore-transfer
David Gomez and freshman
Ruben Marquez each collected an assist as well.

"It was a great opening to our season," said Head Coach
Neil Cockburn. "We will build on this for the rest of our season."

The Warriors next match-up will be against Middle Georgia State University next Saturday, September 3rd at 5 p.m. on the Warrior Grass Field.Â
