BABSON PARK, Fla. (April 5, 2022) – On what was a stormy Saturday afternoon, the Webber International University men's lacrosse team woud host the Bees of SCAD-Savannah, resulting in a 14-7 victory for the Warriors.
Cade McCarron would put one in the back of the cage before the Bees (2-6 overall, 2-5 AAC) would score their lone goal of the quarter. Chase Jackson would assist two goals by Houston Finlayson and Blake Nelson would assist a goal to Alexander Kew, ending the first quarter with a 4-1 lead. The second quarter would start off with Nelson and Finlayson scoring back-to-back, extending the Warriors' (11-4 overall, 3-3 AAC) lead even further. The Bees would score their first goal of the second quarter, however, Nelson would respond immediately after with yet another goal of his own. Jackson would assist the Warriors' last two goals of the second quarter from Kew and Alex West, respectively.
The third quarter would start off with two back-to-back goals from the Bees. However, the Warriors would not allow them to put anymore in the cage for the rest of the quarter. Over halfway through the third quarter, West would score two goals. Then, with 37 seconds left in the quarter, Finlayson would net another goal, giving the Warriors a comfortable 12-6 lead. The Warriors would only score two goals in the fourth quarter by Jackson and Connor Herring and would only allow the Bees to score one lone goal yet again; ending the game with a score of 14-7.
The Warriors would outshoot the Bees 36-23 and dominated in ground balls 34-17. Finlayson would lead the Warriors' offense with four goals and West would follow closely behind with three. On the defensive side, Hunter Scott took the lead on ground balls with 11 and Dane Fasano followed close behind with six. Ayden Kulick would end the game with 57 minutes and 50 seconds in the cage with 7 saves and 1 ground ball.
