Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

High-powered offense of No. 5 Keiser too much for Warriors

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 16, 2022) – The Webber International University women's lacrosse team struggled to keep up with the offensive prowess of No. 5 Keiser University, as it suffered a 26-8 defeat in its final game of the regular season.

The Warriors (6-11 overall, 1-5 MSC) started the game strong with Lauren Dombroski winning the draw and Kaitlyn Patterson scoring the first goal of the game. However, this would not bring momentum to the Warriors as they would only score one other goal by Samantha Esher in the first quarter, ending it with a score of 2-11. The Warriors would also score the first goal of the second quarter in a man-up situation from Patterson, assisted by Bryce Gerber. Webber would score two goals back-to-back by Patterson and then Esher in a man up situation. The half would conclude with one more goal from the Warriors by Gerber with a score of 6-16. After halftime, the Warriors could not find the back of the cage until the fourth quarter when Esher would feed the ball to Gerber, who would score the Warriors first goal of the second half. Dombroski would finish of the match with a goal, ending the game with an 8-26 loss.

The Warriors offense was led by Patterson with three goals with Esher and Gerber trailing behind with two each. Patterson and Dombroski led in draw controls with five a piece and Sydney Britton with two. Alexia Allen, Hannah Register, and Jordyn Davidson would lead in ground balls with three a piece. Allen and Register would also lead in caused turnovers with four and two respectively. Davidson and Register would split their time in goal. Davidson would spend 30 minutes defending the cage with 16 saves and Register would defend the last half with 10 saves.

Webber will now travel to Williamsburg, Kentucky to compete in the Mid-South Conference tournament. The Warriors will face University of the Cumberlands in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 21, at 11 a.m.
