BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 24, 2022) - In what was the final home game of the regular season, the Webber International University women's flag football team matched up against the Lions of Florida Memorial for the second time this season. The Warriors commanded the game from start to finish in a 32-0 victory on Thursday afternoon on the Warrior Turf Field.
It was Senior Day for the Warriors as they honored their two seniors,
Valerie Guevara and
Alyssa Rivera, before the beginning of the game.
Webber (6-4 overall, 2-4 SUN) earned its second victory of the season over the Lions (1-6, 0-6) this year.
The Warriors put up points in each quarter against the Lions, scoring their first touchdown in the first quarter. Webber would score twice in the second quarter, converting both extra points, to take a 20-0 lead going into halftime. In the second half, the Warriors would score once in each of the final two quarters to earn the 32-0 victory.
Hayden Rupe would lead the Warriors offensively with three total touchdowns. She would end the game with four receptions for 30 yards and two receiving touchdowns as well as a 20-yard touchdown run.
Samantha Wilson finished 12-of-19 for 118 yards and two passing touchdowns while also leading the team in rushing with 51 yards.
Kayla Burrows led the team in receiving yards with 64 yards on four catches followed by
Breaza Robinson with three receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown.
Sierra Harris completed three of her five passes for 46 yards and a passing touchdown as well as a rushing touchdown.
Defensively, Harris made her presence known with two interceptions and a pass break-up. The Warriors' pass rush was led by Guevara who tallied three sacks on the day for a total loss of five yards. Burrows led the Warriors in flag pulls with eight, followed by Robinson with five and Guevara with four.
The Warriors will now be on the road for their final four games of the season, first traveling to Miami Gardens, Fla. on Thursday, April 7, where they will match up against St. Thomas University at 4 p.m.
