BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. (March 18, 2022) - The Webber International University men's lacrosse team began its Michigan road trip on Friday night with a matchup against the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The Warriors used a big second quarter in which they outscored their opponents 6-1 to fuel themselves to a 11-6 victory on the road.
The Warriors (8-3 overall) peppered the opposition's goal with a total of 42 shots compared to the 30 of the Wolverines (2-5). Webber outnumbered Michigan-Dearborn 17-13 in ground balls and 11-9 in face offs.
Just over a minute and half into the game, the Wolverines would score the first goal of the game.
Jordan Elam would get the Warriors on the board five minutes later with his first goal of the season. Michigan-Dearborn would score a man-up goal to retake the lead, however, a solo goal from
Alexander Kew would tie the game at two apiece heading into the second quarter. The Warriors would score six-straight goals in an 11 minute-span to take control of the game and earn a commanding 8-2 lead. Goals from

Jonathan Schrager, and a second-quarter hat-trick from
Houston Finlayson would put Webber into the driver's seat for the rest of the game. The Wolverines would pull one back with just over two minutes remaining in the half to make it an 8-3 lead for Webber heading into the break.
Michigan-Dearborn would chip away at the lead in the third quarter, picking up three goals while holding the Warriors scoreless. The Wolverines would come within two at 8-6 as the fourth quarter began. Webber would then lockdown on defense to put any comeback efforts to bed, outscoring the Wolverines 3-0 in the fourth quarter. A fourth goal from Finlayson followed by a man-up goal from Jackson and
Alex West's first goal of the game would be enough to earn the Warriors the 11-6 win.
Jackson would lead the team with a total of five points with two goals and three assists followed closely by Finlayson with four goals, good for four points.
Blake Nelson would pick up two assists and lead the team with two caused turnovers on the defensive end.
Hunter Scott won 12 of his 20 attempted face offs while tallying a game-high 10 ground balls.
Ayden Kulick would spen all 60 minutes in the cage for the Warriors, tallying seven saves in total for the game.
The Warriors have one day off before traveling to Livonia, Michigan to face Madonna University on Sunday, March 20, at 1 p.m.
