MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 25, 2022) - The Webber International University baseball opened Sun Conference play against Florida Memorial University on Friday afternoon, resulting in a 5-0 defeat for the Warriors. The loss brings an end to the 12-game winning streak for Webber and is the first Sun Conference loss of the season.

The Warriors (14-2 overall, 0-1 SUN) were only able to muster three hits in the game and left seven runners on base in the game. Xavier Rodriguez would be the starting pitcher for Webber, allowing five runs on four hits and five walks.

The Lions (7-2, 3-1) would pick up two runs in the bottom of the second, one of which came via an RBI-double. Florida Memorial would hold its 2-0 lead before adding another run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning would give the Lions a comfortable 5-0 lead.

Two of the Warriors three hits were doubles from Christian Martin and Angel Diaz. Martin finished 1-3 while Diaz ended the game 1-4. The only other hit of the game for Webber came from Drake Dobyanski who ended 1-3. Luis Acevedo had the only stolen base on the night for the Warriors.

Next up, the Warriors continue its three-game series against Florida Memorial on Saturday, February 26, in a doubleheader at 12 and 3 p.m.
