Box Score THOMASVILLE, Ga. (October 5, 2022) - The Webber International University men's soccer team traveled to Thomas University for its second Sun Conference matchup of the season thus far. After an early goal from the Warriors and a late equalizer by the Night Hawks, the match ended level at 1-1.

The draw ends the Warriors' (6-0-1 overall, 1-0-1 SUN) winning streak, however, the undefeated streak extends to seven matches. Thomas (3-4-2, 0-1-1) did well to control the match offensively, firing off a total of 17 shots compared to the eight of Webber.

Just over seven minutes into the match, the Warriors had three-straight corner kicks to generate a scoring opportunity but none would bear any fruit. The first shot of the match came in the 17th minute via Luke Piveral, whose effort went wide of the post. Less than a minute later, a strike from Marc Bonafe found the back of the net off of an assist from Joseph O'Sullivan.

Shortly after the restart, the momentum would swing in favor of the Night Hawks as they rattled off five shots over a six minute period. Three of those would need saving by goalkeeper Gianni Honsel. The remainder of the half was spent mostly in the midfield as neither team would have any shots, other than a late effort from Thomas that went high over the bar just before halftime.

Within the first five minutes following the half, Thomas kept the pressure on with two more efforts that both were saved by Honsel. The Warriors then had their own spell of pressure, shooting five times in five minutes. The first of which needed saving by the Night Hawks goalie and the rest of which were either blocked or off-target. Webber's defense would stand strong until the 84th minute when a shot from Thomas finally made its way through and knotted the game up at 1-1.

Two minutes later, the Night Hawks took two shots in quick succession, the first blocked and the second was saved by Honsel. The Warriors had one last chance in the 89th minute to regain the lead but a shot from Dozie Ozo-Udeze missed high and the match would end a tie.

Webber was led by Honsel in goal who allowed just the one goal and stood strong between the sticks, making six saves in total. Bonafe had the only goal for the Warriors while him and Ruben Marquez had the only two shots on goal in the match.

The Warriors now return home, although only briefly, to take on the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University on Wednesday, October 12th at 1 p.m. They will then be back on the road as the head down to South Florida to face the No. 6 St. Thomas Bobcats on Saturday, October 15th at 4 p.m.
