BRUNSWICK, Ga. (October 20, 2022) - The Webber International University women's volleyball team traveled to the College of Coastal Georgia to face the Mariners for the second time this season on Wednesday night. After winning the first two sets commandingly, the Warriors would be unable to close out the final set needed as the Mariners stormed back to take the victory, 3-2 (12-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-20, 15-10).
The Warriors (13-10 overall, 3-5 SUN) started the match hitting very well in the first two sets but struggled over the next three and ended the match with a hitting percentage of .181. It was slightly higher than the .122 percent of Coastal Georgia (9-12, 1-6).

The tide began to shift in set number three as the Warriors began to struggle offensively. The Mariners quickly took an early 10-4 lead and slowly built that lead to 10 and then eventually led as many as 13 at 22-9. A 5-1 run from Webber cut the deficit to single digits, however, it was too little too late as Coastal Georgia made it 2-1 for the match.

The lead changed hands several times throughout the set, but tied at 19, Coastal Georgia scored five in a row to hold advantage for the set, 24-19. Webber scored once more but a kill from the Mariners gave them the set victory and forced a fifth set.
