WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (September 27, 2021) – The Webber International women's volleyball team traveled to Keiser University to take on the Seahawks in a Sun Conference matchup this past Saturday, resulting in a 3-1 defeat for the Warriors.

The Warriors (9-7 overall, 0-3 SUN) started the first set strong, jumping out to an 8-2 advantage early on. Keiser (12-16, 2-2) would go on a four-point run to cut the lead to just two at 8-6. Later in the set, the Seahawks would go on yet another four-point run to take the lead, 11-10. With Keiser leading 18-16, the Warriors would battle back with two kills coming from
Ana Clara Araujo and
Bailey Sikkema to level the match at 18-18. The Seahawks would regain the lead and hold off Webber to take the first set, 25-21.

The second set would be back-and-forth in terms of scoring. Tied at 6-6, the Warriors would have a three-point run only to be matched by a Seahawk's three-point to tie it yet again at 9-9. Two attack errors from Keiser as well as a kill from
Savanna Wilhite would push the Warriors out front, 12-9. The Seahawks would fight back to within one at 20-19 later in the set, but Webber would finish off the set after kills from
Teodora Ranitovic and Sikkema.

However, that would be the only set that the Warriors would be able to capture in the match. Webber had its best hitting percentage in the second set at .375%.

Sikkema led the Warriors offensively with 12 kills followed by freshman Wilhite with nine and
Nadia Reid with six. Araujo and
Amanda Vega led the way in assists with 18 and 15 respectively.

Defensively,
Kiersten Tisdale led the team with 20 digs while Reid and Ranitovic each had three blocks.

The Warriors next contest will be their first Sun Conference match at home when they take on Florida Memorial on Wednesday, September 29, at 6 p.m. inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center. It will be Webber's first home match in almost a month. It will also be a "Blackout Night" for the Warriors, so fans in attendance should come wearing black.
