BABSON PARK, Fla. (September 29, 2021) – The Webber International University women's volleyball team hosted the Lions of Florida Memorial for its first Sun Conference game inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center on Wednesday night, resulting in a 3-1 loss for the Warriors.
The Warriors (9-8 overall, 0-4 SUN) had their first home match in almost a month, a "Blackout Night" that saw the arena fill up with roughly 450 fans in attendance for their first home conference match against the Lions (6-3, 5-0), who remain undefeated in The Sun Conference.
Senior
Emily Bowen led the Warriors offensively with 11 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. She was followed by
Bailey Sikkema with eight kills and
Nadia Reid with seven.
Amanda Vega led the way in terms of assists with 20, while
Ana Clara Araujo finished with 13.
Defensively, Webber was led by
Kiersten Tisdale with seven digs, Vega with six, and
Yanileb Figueroa and Araujo with five each. Junior
Teodora Ranitovic finished the match with four blocks followed by Sikkema with three and Reid with two.
It was a short return home as the Warriors hit the road again, this time traveling to Miami Gardens, Florida to face St. Thomas University on Saturday, October 2, at 2 p.m. and then another road matchup against Southeastern University on October 6.
